CHENNAI: The Rotary Club of Madras now has a royal association. The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, has been formally inducted into the club in District 3230. The club, third oldest world service oriented organisation in India, was inaugurated in the city in 1929. The Prince of Arcot, who had formally received the ‘For the Sake of Honour’ award from the club for his social services, especially in promoting communal harmony, secularism and national integration, was inducted as its member on March 6. The Prince was introduced to the members by Club President Rotarian Nandita Krishnan. The Nawab has held various positions in social, cultural and religious institutions in the State and elsewhere in the country. According to a release, he has been involved with the Lions Club International, District 324-A1 since 1977.
