BHADRACHALAM: Police took Sabari area committee dal member Kalmu Rajaiah alias Raju into preventive custody at Edugurallapalli on Saturday, in view of the two-day Maoist bandh. Speaking to the media Assistant superintendent of police P G Bhupal said, Rajaiah, a Gottikoya hails from Jaggaram village of Bhadrachalam mandal, was taken into preventive custody during the police patrolling in view of the Maoist call for a two-day bandh, demanding cancellation of Operation Green Hunt in Chhattisgarh. Rajaiah migrated from Chhattisgarh in 2005 and became a member of Jaggaram village committee. In 2007, he joined armed militia, he said. Accroding to information, Rajaiah was allegedly involved in the murders of Kanithi Rajulu and Kanithi Subbaiah, sarpanches of Kommanapalli village of Dummugudem in 2009, murder of Kumar and Nandaiah of Ramachandruni Cheruvu. He was also allegedly involved in burning of crusher at Chatti in February 2011 and exchange of fire with police near Durma village of Kunta block.
