Two unidentified individuals on motorbikes opened fire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai on Sunday, prompting the police to heighten security in the area. However, no one was injured in the incident, but a bullet was found inside the actor’s home gallery.

The two individuals fired four rounds outside the Galaxy Apartments in the Bandra area, where the actor resides, at around 5 am and fled the scene. Khan was present in his home at the time of the incident, the police said, adding that the bullets were fired into the air.

Crime Branch Arrests Two Suspects From Navi Mumbai

Two suspects, allegedly involved in the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence, have been arrested by the Crime Branch team from Navi Mumbai. The two have been taken into custody for interrogation, Navbharat Times reported.

Cops To Record Statements From Bike Dealer, Auto Drivers

Mumbai Police will record statements from the second-hand bike dealer, the middleman involved in the sale, and the first owner of the bike. Additionally, statements will be taken from the auto-rickshaw drivers who drove the accused in Bandra and Santacruz East. The police have accessed over 30 CCTV footages across Bandra for the investigation.

Canada Connection: Police Trace IP Address Of FB post

Mumbai Police have traced the IP address of the Facebook page claiming responsibility for the shooting outside Khan’s residence in an effort to ascertain the legitimacy of the threat. The investigation has revealed that the IP address of the profile was from Canada. Additionally, police suspect that a VPN may have been used for the post.

On Sunday, Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the shooting in a Facebook post. Anmol — who is wanted for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022 and is believed to be in hiding in Canada — said the attack was the “first and last warning” for the actor.

Accused Purchased Second-Hand Bike From Raigad

According to sources, the two suspects had purchased the motorbike from a second-hand dealer in Raigad district prior to the incident. They reportedly travelled to Mumbai on the bike from Panvel. The police are currently questioning individuals regarding the entire process of selling and buying the motorcycle.

One of Two Men Suspected To Be From Gurugram

According to an official source in the Delhi Police, one of the two men observed in CCTV footage firing outside Khan’s house is believed to be from Gurugram. This individual is suspected to have been involved in multiple killings and robberies in Haryana and is wanted in connection with the murder of Gurugram-based businessman Sachin Munjal in March, as per news agency PTI.

Sources told CNN-News18 that the Mumbai police have reached out to authorities in Gurugram and Haryana. They have requested assistance in obtaining background information on the accused and their families to aid in tracing the suspects.

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Behind Firing: Sources

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is behind the firing outside the actor’s Bandra residence, top Mumbai Police sources told CNN-News18 on Sunday. As per sources, the attack was carried out by Rohit Godara, who operates Bishnoi’s gang in Rajasthan. One of the accused has been identified as Vishal aka Kalu, who works for Godara. Sources said that both the accused have fled from Mumbai.

Mumbai Police Registers FIR, Bike Recovered

Following the attack, a case has been registered against the unknown individuals in connection with the shootout incident. The FIR was filed under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and section 3(25) of the Arms Act. The police have also recovered a two-wheeler, suspected to have been used by the duo, a little over a kilometre from the actor’s home. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

Security Tightens Outside Khan’s Residence

Security outside the Bollywood actor’s residence was heightened following the shooting. Local police, crime branch personnel, and a team of forensic experts promptly arrived at the scene to gather evidence, including footage from CCTV cameras installed near the actor’s house.

Maharashtra CM Shinde Dials Khan After Firing

After the firing, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Khan over a phone call. Shinde also held discussions with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and suggested increasing the actor’s security. Top police sources said that appropriate security review is being done in view of the firing incident.

“This is an unfortunate incident. Police are investigating it. The accused will be caught and stringent action will be taken against them,” Shinde said. The Maharashtra CM also said that “those who take the law into their own hands won’t be spared”.

Meanwhile, former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the state government and said, “The way hooliganism is going on openly, this government has no right to run the government. They are not paying attention to the state, it is a matter of shame.”

Threats From Bishnoi Gang

Last year, Khan received a threat e-mail from Canada-based fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, who openly declared Khan as a target on his gang’s hit-list. In response to the threat, police registered an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Brar, along with another individual, under IPC Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention). Subsequently, the Bollywood superstar was granted Y+ security after reportedly receiving a death threat from the Bishnoi Gang.
