Dubai: Sania Mirza's doubles campaign in the $2 million Dubai Open, too, has come to an end.
After a second round exit in the singles competition, Sania and her partner Mara Santangelo of Italy were beaten in straight sets 3-6, 3-6 by the top seeded pair of Cara Black and Lizel Huber.
The match lasted a little over an hour and 10 minutes.
The Indo-Italian duo were never in the game as the Black and Huber won boths the seats easily to advance to the next round.
Sania and Mara had made it to the doubles pre-quarter finals after getting a walkover from Poland’s Urszula Radwanska and Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland in the first round.
An injury to Radwanska forced the Polish-Swiss pair to give away the match to their opponents.
Sania had lost on Tuesday to Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the singles event.
