KOLLAM/ALAPPUZHA/KOCHI: With the recovery of the bodies of two more fishermen on Saturday, the search operations launched to find the missing persons in the Don 1 accident on March 1 have ended.Bernard’s body, which was recovered by local fishermen and coastal police, was brought to the Kollam port by 9 am. His brother Joy and fisherman Joseph, one of the two survivors in the accident, identified the body. The funeral was held at St Stephen’s Church, Thoppe, after postmortem at the Kollam District Hospital. Bernard is survived by wife Helen and nine-year-old daughter Aneesha.Naval divers on board INS Nireekshak, which was deployed for rescue operations on Friday, brought Cleetus’ body to Thottappilli Harbour in Alappuzha. It was taken to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for postmortem.The ship carrying 30 divers had reached the site of the wreck on Friday itself. The divers were lowered in a diving cage in pairs to the bottom where they managed to cut through the fishing nets to recover the body. A Coast Guard vessel and a helicopter also joined them.The body of Santhosh, 28, who was also missing in the incident, had been recovered from the wreckage of the boat on Sunday last by another Navy team on board INS Kabra. Two others were also killed in the tragedy, while two fishermen were rescued by fellow boats.
