Security has been beefed up in all the sensitive places across Chhattisgarh, particularly in the Naxal-hit areas, in the view of Independence Day celebrations on Friday police said.

Tight security is being maintained across the state particularly in the insurgency-hit Bastar region to avoid any disturbances by the red rebels during I-day celebrations, a senior police official told PTI.

Armed guards have been deployed at all the important government establishments. Additional security arrangements have been made at each district headquarters of Bastar division, comprising Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker and Bastar, he added. Besides, patrolling has been intensified in the interior forest pockets and inter-state borders to check suspicious movements, he said.

The state government has completed preparations in all the 27 districts, including the capital Raipur.

Chief Minister Raman Singh will hoist the National Flag in morning at the Police Parade ground here and will receive the guard of honour by different units of security personnel, an official statement said.

March past will be presented by Chhattisgarh police, CAF, CISF, Home Guard, NSS, NCC and scout guide cadets on the occasion and different tableaux would be taken out in a parade, it added.

Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly Gaurishankar Agrawal will unfurl the tricolour in Bastar district's headquarter Jagdalpur. Besides, other ministers will take part in I-day celebrations to be held at different places in the state, it added.
