Seminar on Disaster Management held

KOCHI: A seminar on Disaster Management- Strategies and Tactics was held at the Cochin University of Science and Technology on Saturday. It was held as a curtain raiser to Talentime 2011, an annual management fest of School of Management Studies, to be held on October 14, 15 and 16. Ramachandran Thekkedath, Vice-Chancellor, Cusat, inaugurated the function. Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who took part in the function through a telephonic speech said, “Kerala will take more precautionary measures for disaster management.”He said that Kerala was far behind in terms of disaster management and the State Disaster Management Authority would have a proactive disaster management system integrated with advanced technology and facilities soon. Ramachandran said, “The immediate need of the hour is to prepare a strategic plan for disaster management. It is also important for  people to be made aware of the impending hazards.”
