Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met South Africa's Gauteng province Premier (Chief Minister) Maemolla David Makhura and his council of ministers and discussed investment in the state, during his third-day of visit to the African nation.
Chouhan and the Gauteng Premier on Tuesday held detailed discussions on processing and value addition of minerals in beneficiation sector, agro processing and value addition in agriculture sector and urban transport system, an official release said in Bhopal on Wednesday.
Chouhan informed that Madhya Pradesh is exploring the possibility of introducing metro train and is interested in drawing on the rich experience of South Africa.
During discussions on development sector, Makhura said that Gauteng is interested in learning from Indian experience in training its youths. Social development and women empowerment issues were also discussed, the release said.
The Gauteng government also desired to learn as to how Madhya Pradesh was ensuring women's empowerment and uplift by working at grassroot level with social and non-government organisations, it said.
Those present on the occasion included Gauteng's Minister for Economic Development Lebogang Maile, Minister for Finance Barbara Creecy and Minister for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi.
Gauteng province has the largest economy in South Africa and also has as the largest population.
