Jamnagar (Gujarat): Jamnagar police on Suday arrested six men in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 17-year-old girl.
Police Inspector B C Modi said that one Mehul Rawal was the main person who enticed the girl into coming with him and his friends and later gangraped her in Jamnagar and Mumbai.
"We have arrested six persons based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother at Ahmedabad Women's police station yesterday," Modi said, adding that a team will be sent to Mumbai to arrest the seventh person named in the complaint.
The mother of the girl lodged a complaint with women's police station in Ahmedabad in this regard after the victim returned from Mumbai and narrated the incident.
According to the complaint registered on Saturday, the girl was gangraped between August 21 and 26 in Jamnagar and Mumbai by seven persons several times.
On August 21, the girl, who lived with her father in Jamnagar, boarded a private bus from the city to meet her mother in Ahmedabad, the complaint said.
In the bus, she met one Mehul who convinced her to come with him to Ahmedabad in a car, but instead, he took her to Jayant Society in the city and held her captive for the entire night.
The mother claimed that her daughter was gangraped by Mehul and four of his friends, who also video-recorded the crime on mobile phones.
The girl was later taken to Mumbai, where she was again gangraped by the same men, and another one called Michael. "Further investigation in the matter is being conducted by the Jamnagar district police as the case has been transferred to them as the place of offence is located there,"
Ahmedabad Mahila police station ACP Usha Rada said. Meanwhile, Mehul and his friends were being questioned regarding the incident, Jamnagar police said, adding that further probe is on.
Meanwhile, in a late development on Sunday night, Jamnagar city police arrested six men in connection with the alleged gangrape of the 17-year-old girl.

Police said that the girl was kept in a hotel near Bandra railway station in Mumbai by the accused. Those arrested have been identified as Mehul Rawal, Dharmesh Patel, Viral Jethwa, Ajaysinh Jethwa, Nishant Punjani and Kailash Khatri.
The seventh person Michael is yet to be arrested, police said.
The accused are likely to be produced in court on Monday, they said, adding that further investgation in the matter was on.
