New Delhi: Born in 1970, Saif Ali Khan got his first break in films at the age of 22 but started earning acknowledgments only after 2001 when Farhan Akhtar's 'Dil Chahta Hai' hit the screens. 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and 'Ek Hasina Thi' released in 2003 and 2004 rose his stature to B+ actors but a major twist in his career came in 2004 when Saif got his first solo hit 'Hum Tum'.

'Parineeta' and 'Being Cyrus' came in the same year and the audiences got a chance to explore his acting limits. His character in 'Being Cyrus' had several layers to it; moreover it had a Parsi background which was rarely shown in a bad light before this film. He passed the test with flying colours.

Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Omkara' changed the entire scenario for Junior Pataudi. Suddenly, Saif became the raw macho man of the Indian cinema. His portrayal of Langda Tyagi was not only true to the story but was also very close to the real gangsters.

'Race' and 'Love Aaj Kal' maintained his position among top Bollywood actors and now he is coming in Sriram Raghavan's 'Agent Vinod'.

The promos of 'Agent Vinod' are out and they look promising. Saif Ali Khan's quintessential urban looks completely suits the character.

Lately he has grown as an actor who can play both the urban and semi urban roles with ease. 'Love Aaj Kal' was a good example of this. His character Jai Vardhan Singh was suave but the young Veer Singh was rustic in appeal.

Despite lacking good height and typical Bollywood looks, Saif has carved a niche for himself. It took him some years to reach to that position but slowly and steadily he has achieved a distinct place in the film industry. He is IBNLive's star of the day.
