THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan has said that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 200 crore for the horticulture and animal husbandry sectors.The Central Government has granted approval for various state agricultural projects, said the Minister in a press release, issued here on Thursday. Union Agriculture Minister Sharat Pawar was considerate to the State Government’s demand to stop the import of rubber as it would affect the rubber farmers of the state, the Minister said.Powar agreed to take steps to increase the state’s share of chemical fertilisers and to consider granting subsidy for fertilizers. He said that more funds were allotted for the Agricultural University in the state.He was favourable to the request for a price stability fund for cardamom. The State Government asked the Centre to activate the implementation of the Kuttand package and approval for a Kuttanad Radio for awareness programme on the package, he said. The Agriculture Minister also said that the Centre had given assurance for allotting Vidarbha model package for Palakkad and Wayanad districts. He said that a memorandum to include the small-scale farmers under the MGNREGA was submitted to Union Minister for Rural Development Jayaram Ramesh.
