HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court comprising chief justice Madan B Lokur and justice PV Sanjay Kumar on Friday ordered status quo on the proposed burial ground in Mrutyunjayakunta and Sai Nagar areas of Kadapa city.The bench was dealing with a public interest petition filed by residents of the two areas. The petitioners said they had come to know through newspapers that a minister was going to inaugurate a burial ground and it would be available for use by locals from January. They approached municipal officials but failed to get any response. They said rules did not permit such usage unless the area was registered with the corporation and cited a court judgement which dealt with the cremation of an exchief minister at a park in Hyderabad. The bench ordered issuance of notices.
