CHENNAI: Minister of State for PMO, Parliamentary Affairs, Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions, V Narayanasamy, on Sunday attacked the anti-nuclear lobby for protesting against the Koodankulam plant. He made a strong appeal to religious leaders and small political parties not to interfere in the dialogue between the government and civil society groups. “The government-designated experts’ committee is speaking to representatives of the anti-nuclear group. Religious leaders have no job meddling there. What does religion have to play in a matter like this? They should just stay away,” he said.“None of the big parties have gravitated towards the issue. It is only the small fringe groups that are going there. I also appeal to them not to meddle in things they don’t understand,” Narayanasamy added.Narayanasamy’s words of caution came at a seminar organised in favour of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant. The meet, organised by pro-Congress magazine Desiya Murasu, also featured former Atomic Energy Commission Chairman, M R Srinivasan, former TNEB Chairman, R Poornalingam, and former Director of Radiation Protection at Kalpakkam, SV Krishnan, among others.
