New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the Suryanelli rape case on Wednesday. A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by 42 men over a span of 40 days. The appeal against the acquittal of the accused has been pending in the apex court for eight years.
Earlier this month, Chief Justice Altamas Kabir gave assurance that the hearing would begin as soon as possible. Though the Sessions Court found 35 of the accused guilty, the Kerala High Court in 2005 acquitted all but one of the accused.
