TDP alleges illegal felling in forests

HYDERABAD: Khammam Telugu Desam Party MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah on Wednesday alleged that many trees have been felled illegally in reserve forests of Khammam.As many as 8,000 trees in Charla mandal, 95 in Kunavaram mandal and 242 in Kunavaram mandal have been felled. “As tribals are given permission to fell trees, the department has felled trees, alleging that the tribals have felled them,” Veeraiah said.  He said that three successive district collectors have given permissions to do so.
