The lanes of the campus were filled with joy and laughter; every student seemed to be enthused about the ceremony. The black coloured robes and caps stood out from the rest of the crowd and suited the mood of the occasion perfectly. Siva Sivani Institute of Management (SSIM) celebrated their 17th convocation and the Siva Sivani Education Society’s golden jubilee celebrations of on August 3. The graduating class of 2011, included students from BIFAAS (Banking Insurance Finance And Allied Services), Human resource sector and the post graduate diploma students of marketing. The chief guest for the occasion was Korn Dabbaransi, former deputy prime minister of Thailand. S Aarathy, president and chief executive of SP Sampathy’s Siva Sivani group of institutions presided over the convocation.  Addressing the students and highlighting the role played by India, keeping in view of the strong growth rate, he said, “The whole world will be competing for two most sought after resources — food and energy. India possesses the capacity to lead, and adding to it, the Indian private sector is very strong.” “India could play a much more active role in leading the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) into a much more harmonising socio-political regional arena,” he added. He also distributed gold medals to the toppers of SSIM and also gave away cash awards to meritorious students, after which all the graduates received their certificates from him. The occasion also marked various performances by the students of the Siva Sivani group.Sailesh Sampathy, vice president and deputy chief executive of the Siva Sivani group shared a quote by their founder and said, “We have been audaciously trying to march ahead in the foot prints left behind by him. From a mere intake of 40 students a year, we have now reached to an intake of more than 1300 students a year.”One of the graduates, Brahmaraj Pandy of the marketing batch said, “The best part of this institute is its faculty and the second best thing is the placements. ”Another graduate of the BIFAAS stream, Sudhir Rao, said, “We have a perfect blend of theory and practicals here.” After the ceremony, students had mixed emotions - some had tears of joy and happiness, from meeting their friends and the reality of being a graduate.
