A retired government employee named Prasad Rao has utilised his spare time productively by growing plants in his house. According to Local 18 Andhra Pradesh, he lives in the Anamitra Etcherla, a housing society in Shermuhammadpuram, Andhra Pradesh. Prasad Rao is a retired employee of the Panchayati Raj department. He originally hails from the East Godavari District and has worked in many capacities.

He has worked in the Srikakulam Panchayat Raj Engineer Departments and Patapatnam. Rao used to work in the Palasa and Sompet regions and grow plants on the terrace while staying in a rented house. After purchasing his own house in 2017, he converted it into a greenhouse by cultivating plants.

Meanwhile, Prasad Rao’s wife Sesharathnambalu helps her husband in taking care of the plants in their house. His son Pritam is working in Chennai and his daughter Priyanka is employed in Mumbai. Wherever the East Godavari District native and his family go on a vacation, they purchase plants. Due to this endeavour by them, there are more than 200 types of plants in their house.

In the Local 18 Andhra Pradesh visual, Prasad Rao is spotted hanging vines on the walls around the house to keep the house sunlight-proof. The walls are now replete with vines, giving a green barrier-like appearance to prevent heat absorption. The East Godavari District native said that the atmosphere inside the house will be 2 degrees cooler than outside. According to him, even in the summer season, the house will be cool and comfortable without the air-conditioner.

Currently, Prasad Rao is planting some saplings around the colony for a few days a year with the hope that the entire Anamitra Etcherla will look lush green. He and his wife are providing the necessary water, manure other materials, etc for the growth of those plants. The former government employee and his wife have cultivated the creeping plants on the concrete walls around the colony.

The retired government employee said that there was less greenery in the Anamitra Etcherla housing society when he shifted here. Prasad Rao said that only after he started cultivating plants in his house, did there has been abundant greenery in the colony. Now, this housing society looks like a heaven with birds chirping and many butterflies fluttering around the plants.
