HYDERABAD: Political, bureaucratic, corporate and individual corruption have assumed alarming proportions in the country. A measure of the problem could be gauged from the fact that some people in positions of power, holding high constitutional offices, have charged been for graft. A corrupt person by definition, is immoral, dishonest and unscrupulous in his dealings. And when a politician turns out to be corrupt, it’s a matter of grave concern for he not only debases himself but also degrades the system and brings down the country in the eyes of the world. We got our independence on August 15, 1947 but I believe India is yet to attain freedom from the all-pervasive corruption. Governance has been adversely hit by corruption and there’s hardly anyone in the country who has been able to escape from its clutches. It’s time to join our hands and break the shackles of corruption and rid the country of corrupt politicians and other anti-social elements. Let us hope that the movement launched by Gandhian Anna Hazare will continue and that we will be able to see a corrupt-free India in our lifetime.Tanzeel Ahmed is a IX standard student at K V Picket school
