VIJAYAWADA: The medical counselling being conducted by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences commenced at four centres in the state on Tuesday as per schedule.The first ranker Mandarapu Himaja of Narasaraopet in Guntur district opted for Osmania Medical College. Expressing happiness over getting first rank, she said she wants to become a neurologist. Second ranker N Umamaheswari of Darsi in Prakasam district also opted for Osmania Medical College and eighth ranker Lakshmi Pravallika of Naraspuram, who also opted for Osmania Medical College said she want to become a cardiologist.Handing over the first letter of seat allotment to Himaja, vice-chancellor IV Rao and registrar T Venugopala Rao said that the counselling started as per schedule without any delay at all the four centres. They said the seats in the open category would be filled in the first three days and counselling would be conducted for reserved categories from July 22.The seats would be filled as per seat matrix which was available in university website. Separate centres for registration and verification of certificates have been set up at the counselling centres.
