Traffic comes to a grinding halt in Delhi
While Bush and the Bush-bashers tried to push their way through, Delhiites faced massive traffic snarls from Thursday morning onwards.

New Delhi: It wasn't just President George Bush's massive cavalcade doing the rounds of Delhi's roads, anti-Bush campaigners and Left parties were also jostling for street space.

And while Bush and the Bush-bashers tried to push their way through, Delhiites faced massive traffic snarls from Thursday morning onwards.

During Bush’s visit to the Raj Ghat, there was blockade on the Ring Road – the road that circumferences the Capital.

Hundreds of cars, buses and two-wheelers waited for Bush to complete his engagements and there was heavy police deployment on the streets.

All anti-bush graffiti has been pulled down from the streets and though, protestors are taking out rallies, the turnout has been lower than expected.

The Class X Board exams are also taking place simultaneously. The exam began at 1030 hrs (IST).

But parents and students lined up at the exam centres as early as 8.30 am to avoid the traffic jams.

So, if you are rushing for your Board exams or have a meeting to attend, there are certain roads you will need to avoid.

"It is always advisable for parents to send their children taking the Board exams to keep a margin time of 45 minutes to avoid the last-minute rush," Joint Commissioner of Police, Qamar Ahmad, says.

President Bush will move in a six-ring security cover with a cavalcade of 46 cars, and the Delhi Traffic Police have finalised a roadmap of the roads to avoid.

However, it's not just the President's cavalcade that's worrying the Traffic Police.

The massive anti-Bush rally is another reason why the routes prescribed by the Traffic Police must be avoided.

Routes to be avoided:

Connaught Place, Ram Lila , Ring Road, Sardar Patel Marg
