WARANGAL: A tribal museum showcasing the customs and culture of tribals would come up at Medaram and a fencing would be arranged Chilakalagutta, popularly known as Devathalagutta soon, thanks to the visit of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The chief minister, who visited the Samakka-Saralamma jatra site on Wednesday, announced that `2 crore would be allocated for the tribal museum and `1 crore for the fencing and development of Chilakalagutta.The tribal festival beginning on Feb 8 would attract lakhs of devotees from far and near.Speaking to mediapersons, the chief minister said that Rs 62 crore was earmarked for providing amenities to the pilgrims at the jatara site. “Amenities were provided estimating that 80 lakh-1 crore pilgrims would visit Medaram this year,” he said. “Since the festival attracts devotees, both tribals and non-tribals from six other states, I have come to inspect drinking water, sanitation, medical and electricity facilities provided here,” he said.Kiran Reddy, who arrived in the village by a chopper, offered prayers at the ‘Devathala Gaddelu’ and offered silk clothes as per the tradition. He also offered tulabharam (his weight worth of 72-kg jaggery) to the deities. MLA Chiranjeevi, who also accompanied the chief minister, offered 76-kg (his weight) of jaggery. Endowments minister C Ramachandraiah, tribal welfare minister Bala Raju, information minister DK Aruna, minister from the district Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Baswaraju Saraiah, MPs Porika Balaram Naik, Sirisilla Rajaiah and Mulug MLA Seetakka reached the jatara site ahead of the chief minister, who was accorded a warm welcome in tribal tradition.Kiran Reddy spent about 45 minutes at the jatara site and held talks with the elected representatives. He inaugurated a photo exhibition organised by the I&PR department and a 33/11 KV sub-station at Medaram.
