CHENNAI: Sleuths of Central Crime Branch arrested two persons for allegedly cloning and using fake credit cards and also indulging in circulation of fake currency on Friday.Police said Harshid Das, assistant vice president of a private bank, who was involved in finding credit card related frauds and informing them to the police, found that two persons Manikandan alias Mani (28) of Nerkundram and Mohammad Feroz (27) were seen using many cards of various nationalised banks at a shop at Anna Salai. Suspicious, he pretended to help them and checked their cards. He found that they were fake as the cards carried bank identity numbers of foreign banks. He then alerted the police who arrested the duo.Upon interrogations, police found that Feroz was part of a gang that was involved in making and circulating fake currencies and Manikandan belonged to a gang involved in cloning credit cards.A raid was conducted in Manikandan’s house and 13 fake credit cards, an encoder, a laptop and 149 fake Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were seized. Feroz’s house was also raided and 200 numbers of fake Indian currency notes also of Rs 500 denominations were seized. They were remanded to judicial custody on Saturday.
