RAICHUR: Though the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) has developed a host of problems, the Karnataka Power Corporation is not keen on repairing its ailing units. Unit 1 of the plant, which stopped generation on Monday due to leakage in boiler tube, was taken for annual maintenance on Tuesday.The fourth unit that was stopped due to technical snags, too, started generation on Tuesday. Thus, units 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 generated 20 million units of power on Tuesday.Meanwhile, the position of coal supply has improved. According to sources, the station received five rakes from the Western Coal Fields and one from Mahanadi Coal Fields. Again during night, four rakes from the Western Coal Fields and one rake from the Mahanadi Coal Fields arrived.On Tuesday, two rakes from the Western Coal Fields and one imported coal rake arrived. Thus, the arrival and utilisation of coal is hand to mouth, sources said.Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah will visit the RTPS on Thursday. The CM has convened a meeting of all party leaders on Friday and a delegation will seek coal from the Centre.
