In a significant operation on Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh police intercepted a truck transporting pulses and seized goods worth Rs 6 lakh in Amethi. The operation unfolded late at night near Munshiganj Police Station, culminating in the apprehension of a father-son duo and a local businessman.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials intercepted the truck near Paratosh Tiraha as it was en route to Sultanpur from Kanpur. Initially reported to be carrying green gram, further investigation revealed discrepancies in the cargo’s intended destination.
Mustaqeem, the driver, along with his son Armaan, was found to have diverted a portion of the consignment to a businessman in Nasirabad, concealing additional sacks in a rented shop in Mohanganj.
In total, authorities recovered 403 sacks of pulses during raids at the specified locations. Superintendent of Police, Harinder Kumar, praised the operation as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts against illicit activities in Amethi. Both suspects involved in the diversion, along with the businessman, have been taken into custody pending further investigation.
