London: Vijender Singh has stormed into the Round of 16 after beating Danabek Suzhanov of Kazakhstan 14-10 in the men's 75 kg Middleweight category here on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old Indian pugilist had an upperhand over his opponent throughout the match. In the first round, Vijender waited for his chance to pounce on his opponent and he succeeded in doing so, winning the round 5-4.
In the second round, Vijender showed his prowess from the beginning, packing some powerful punches to Suzan and claiming the round 4-3.
It was a matter in the third round as Vijender ducked as much as possible to avoid any direct punch on his face. He took the round and match comfortably at the end.
Vijender will now face Terrell Gausha of the United States who entered the round of 16 after an impressive show against Andranik Hakobyan of Armenia.
