V-P poll: Naveen in Delhi to consult MPs

Ansari had met Naveen here during his visit to the State.Sources said Naveen is in two minds because if he opposes Ansari’s candidature, it will raise questions over the secular credentials of the BJD. This is because he had sought votes for Sangma by playing the tribal and minority cards.  Naveen cannot also ignore the NDA’s vice-president candidate Jaswant Singh. As the BJP supported Naveen’s candidate in the presidential elections, NDA expects a similar gesture from the BJD in the vice-presidential poll. Due to the confusion, a section of the party wants to abstain in the vice-presidential poll.   After consulting party leaders and ministers here, Naveen now wants to listen to the views of MPs before taking a call.
