Nadia: Some supporters of CPI(M)'s student wing SFI on Saturday allegedly beat up the principal of a college in Nadia district, police said.
A group of five students who are SFI supporters entered Majdia Sudhir Ranjan Lahiri College campus in Krishnaganj and allegedly bet up the principal Sarojendra Nath Kar after an altercation.
They were demanding that outsiders should not be allowed to enter the campus.
"Five SFI supporters entered my chamber and started beating me. They slapped and hit me continuously. They also hit me with a piece of broken table and hurled abuses at me," said Kar.
Later, an FIR was lodged against the five SFI supporters by the principal in Krishnaganj police station.
"We have already arrested one of the five accused and the rest will be arrested soon," district SP Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said.
On Thursday, Raiganj University College's principal Dilip De Sarkar was beaten at his office in North Dinajpur district.
