New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh politician D P Yadav, whose son Vishal Yadav was awarded life imprisonment in the Nitish Katara murder case, on Friday termed the sentence a result of political vendetta.
"We will go to the High Court against this judgement. Our children are victims of a political vendetta," Yadav said after hearing the verdict.
Vikash Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav were awarded life imprisonment in the Nitish Katara murder case.
He alleged that false evidences and fake witnesses were used against his son and Vishal.
"How one can believe on a witness who was not present at the spot and says that he had got favours," he said referring to prime witness Ajay Katara.
Yadav demanded that action should be taken against such false witnesses.
He also said that his political opponents used the case to spoil his image.
Yadav's lawyer S K Sharma said that his clients will challenge the verdict in the High Court.
"This case does not fall under the rarest of rare cases so Vikash and Vishal have been sentenced to life. We will explore options," he said.
"We will come to a conclusion once we get the copy of the judgement," he added.
