CHENNAI: A 56-year-old insect screen wholesaler was found strangled to death in his house at Nanganallur on Friday. Six sovereign gold jewellery was also missing.Police, were on the look out for an absconding couple that was working with the murdered man. Police said Chandrasekaran of Nanganallur was found strangled to death at his apartment on Friday night when his wife Gowri (45) returned home from work. She found the front door unlocked and her husband lying naked on the floor with the cable of a land line phone and wire of a mobile phone charger around his neck. His nose and mouth were bleeding and two pillows were found beside him; police said. A gold bracelet and a ring worn by Chandrasekaran and a mobile phone were missing. St Thomas Mount Assistant Commissioner Murugesan and Palavanthangal police inspector Balakrishna Prabhu arrived at the spot for investigation. Sniffer dog Bruno ran some distance and stopped.Gowri is an employee at a nationalised bank on Mount Road and has a work timing of 1 pm to 10 pm. The couple has a daughter Preetha. The deceased, who was staying in the third floor of the five storied-five block apartment complex for the past 15 years, had his office in another block of the same apartment. He had employed six people in his office out of which a couple stayed in the office to work. Neighbours of Chandrasekaran found him as a friendly person but with a short temper. “Neighbours told me that they had last seen him walking in the road at around 4 pm. So, he could have been murdered after that,” said Kalyanasundaram, brother of Chandrasekaran.Police, who inquired with his business dealers, subdealers, office employees and people who frequent the house, said that the couple who were staying at his office were missing. Police were investigating whether the man had faced business rivalry or issues with women.“The deceased had no injuries and there are no signs of struggle. The couple were brought to work by Chandrasekaran only a week back, to stitch insect nets. Nobody, even his wife, knows who the couple are or their native. We will get details only after we find them,” said a police official.
