CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday vowed to make Tamil Nadu the Number One State in India in all spheres of development.  She called upon industrialists to be active partners in realising her vision.“When my government took over, I had set for ourselves a goal of making Tamil Nadu the numero uno among Indian States. I hold this vision dear to me,” the CM said, delivering the special address at the National Council meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry held here.Stating that her government would bring out a Vision Document 2025 to meet the expectations of the industry sector, she said it would contain clear-cut policies for promoting investment in infrastructure, such as power, ports and ship building. There would be special emphasis on renewable energy.Exhorting the galaxy of industrialists present at the meet to invest in TN, Jayalaltihaa said, “Tamil Nadu will be your ideal platform to generate wealth. The State government will act as a catalyst in fulfilling your dreams. This is a State that delivers, and we need active partners who have seen growth both in the old and the new economy and participate in the generation and propagation of wealth.” Observing that TN was a leading State in India in the manufacturing sector while Chennai was a promising pitch for vehicles and auto parts exports, the CM said Chennai produces practically everything that moves - from bicycles to battle tanks and everything in between. “Chennai is set to emerge as one among the top five global auto clusters. My vision is to make Chennai the world’s largest auto cluster,” said the Chief Minister.Reaffirming her government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment conducive to the growth of the corporate sector, she said, “My government is aware of the many challenges the industry faces such as infrastructure deficits. We will do everything possible to help the industry overcome these challenges.“I am aware of the nervousness in some sections of the corporate sector arising out of some recent unfortunate power cut. We are taking efforts on a war footing to correct the situation. Very soon, we will be able to make our State a power surplus State once again,” the Chief Minister said.Giving a detailed account on the achievements of the earlier AIADMK regimes, she said the Union Planning Commission was currently formulating the XII Plan to be launched form 2012 to 2017. To achieve a growth rate between 9 and 9.5 percent during this Plan period, investment flows into industry and infrastructure should be stepped up.Muthuraman, President, CII, recalled that the confederation was having its headquarters in Velacherry thanks to the gesture of Jayalalithaa when she was CM in 1994. Adi  Godrej, President Designate, CII, proposed the vote of thanks.
