HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has appealed to Congress workers not to aspire to positions, saying that they will be rewarded with posts automatically if they work hard to make the party stronger and create awareness among people about the good work being done by the Congress government in the state.During an interaction with Congress workers at VDP High School at Shahalibanda in the Old City here on Sunday, Reddy gave an example of himself and told the workers that he used to feel bad when he did not become a minister in 20 years though he had been elected to the Assembly continuously since 1989. Luck smiled on him and the party high command made him the chief minister. He admitted that there are a large number of party workers who have sacrificed a lot for the party but assured them that the party would definitely recognise their services and accommodate them in the right posts.“For some people posts will come early and for some late, but party workers should have patience and wait for their time. They should maintain discipline and respect elders as well as juniors” he said The chief minister admitted that party workers in the Old City were not getting due importance on account of the Congress being an ally of the MIM which was winning easily because of Congress support, but in return the Congress is getting benefited in other places. “we have to adjust with the allies” he said.“If the party has to become strong in the old city, its workers have to propagate the government's welfare schemes launched for the benefit of poor people such as the Rs 2 a kg rice, Arogyasri, ration cards, 70 lakh houses for the poor,'' Reddy said.
