Singer-actress Sophie Choudry, who’ll be walking the ramp for designer Abha Chaudhary at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017, believes that hiring a stylist for your airport looks is a little too much.

In an exclusive interaction with News18.com, ahead of the show, she said, “I do think it's a bit much to get a stylist for your airport looks! I have always believed in dressing for the occasion."

When asked how does a celebrity cope up with the need of looking good always, she said that fashion can never be a daunting chore. “I love beautiful clothes, I enjoy looking good and I don't find it a chore.”

“All out glamour and elegance for the red carpet and cool & comfortable for the airport. And above all I stay true to my sensibilities. Hence, fashion and style are never daunting or a chore," she said while talking about her personal dressing style.

Crediting her upbringing for her glamorous style statement, Sophie said, “Perhaps the fact that I was born in London, studied in Paris and was forever surrounded by fashion and a divaesque mother meant that being well put together on a day to day basis is a natural thing for me. When I moved to Mumbai I could never understand the jhalla culture."

“I'm grateful that thanks to blogs and more fashion awareness, everyone makes an effort to dress better," she added.

Sophie will turn the showstopper for Abha’s ‘Coral 101’ collection which is inspired by the magnificent seas and white corals. When asked about her excitement, an elated Sophie told us, “I enjoy walking the ramp because I love beautiful clothes and that spotlight that is on you for those few minutes – it is very special."

“But being a singer performer I would say it's probably easier to perform to a crowd of 30,000 than walk the ramp," she added.

She’s of the view that while it’s important for celebrities to support young and new designers, the talented designers will have their way in either case. “I think in the age of digital and social media, it definitely helps a new designer when a well-known face dons their creations. It helps them get more exposure in a shorter amount of time!”

“Of course it's important that the celebrity wears the outfit well and gets a positive response for it to become popular! At the same time, nothing can replace talent. If a designer is talented he will be known for his work and all the celebrities will be clamouring to wear his clothes!”

What's your reaction?
