Met Gala 2024: Demi Moore’s Gown Was Made With A 60 Year Old Archival Silk Wallpaper
Celebrated designer Harris Reed designed a custom gown for evergreen star Demi Moore to commemorate the Met Gala 2024 theme The Garden of Time.

It was a dream come true when 27 year old British American fashion designer Harris Reed got the opportunity to design for Demi Moore, who he has been obsessed with. A dream straight out of a fairytale, Harris dressed up Demi in a couture gown which made her look like a life size paper doll.

Demi Moore adorned a gown made with a 60 year old panel of archival silk wallpaper that had 11000 hours of embroidery on it. “We wanted the gown to reflect the blooming and decay of a flower. The chiffon petals at the bottom of the gown are hand painted. Harris and his amazing team put this look together in two weeks. The necklace has 7.87 carats of emeralds and is called the Kloris after the Greek nymph of flowers and plants,” expressed stylist Brad Goreski.

Designer Harris Reed, who also graced the Met Gala 2024 carpet with Demi by his side, took to instagram to share his thoughts on designing for Demi. “As I woke up this morning in New York, I looked in the mirror brushing my teeth and couldn’t hold back my tears. To be 27 and attending the Met Gala with my namesake fluid, London brand, asked to attend with Vogue, and dress a woman I have been obsessed with ever since I watched Ghost and Charlie’s Angels, a woman with such strength, beauty and power…it’s Demi Moore and having her and her stylist Brad Goreski to collaborate with on my dream dress does not feel reel,” expresses Reed.

“To be able to take old wallpaper and soak it and repurpose it onto these pieces has been such a treat, to play with something so delicate and fragile and give it a second life. To make almost life size paper dolls, a flower in perfect bloom as it decays fully wrapped in thorns,” shares Reed.

Elated to be a part of Met Gala 2024 and showcasing her creation at the event, Reed further adds, “This moment isn’t about me it’s about all the incredible women around me who push this now not so little boy’s dream into realities, to let me create these pieces and fantasies.”

The wallpaper which was sourced from Fromental, pays homage to centuries-old traditions whilst bearing the unmistakable imprint of the brand’s visionary outlook. Thus evoking a sense of tradition steeped in richness yet unique, truly reawakening fashion.
