After launching his label in London and Dubai followed by a successful India debut early this year, Manish Bansal is set to create a buzz yet again, as he presents as an Emerging Designer at Lakmé Fashion Week to be held in Mumbai, India in August 2015. Manish will showcase his Winter/Festive collection inspired by British Bulldog on August 30, 2015.
Winter-Festive 15-16 is a revival of British Bulldog and Union Jack as a long lasting symbol. The collection draws a parallel from a historically context and expresses a more contemporary take on primitive-violent-macho image of this breed. The collection, hence integrates the bulldog imagery in felted and embroidered forms, one is more British and the latter is more Asian, to show the coming together of techniques. One can also argue that the use of a deeper colour palette of the Union Jack flag demonstrates a more profound & modern symbol of the ‘Bulldogs’
Manish's last collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 in March this year has been noticed and widely praised by Indian audiences. His design philosophy is spun around socio-economic viewpoints that have the potential to start dialogues. Manish has developed a distinctive signature in his designs with a modern take on tailoring and sportswear, which truly reflects our contemporary social milieu. His design methodology is expressed through surface ornamentation and creative use of textile, which also sets him apart.
With his every collection, this London College of Fashion alumnus endeavors to challenge a strict framework of rules and regulations that menswear has and experiment within boundaries using his design sensibilities.
Spanning five days, Lakmé Fashion Week will be held from August 26th to 30th, 2015 at Palladium Hotel, Mumbai.
