Aamir Khan Attends Wimbledon 2024, Says His Father Made Him Quit Tennis: 'Don't Think I Could've Made It'

Aamir Khan recently witnessed the 2024 Wimbledon and spoke to former tennis player and commentator Vijay Amritraj about his own tennis days when he was younger. He said that while he enjoyed the sport, he had to quit it after his father, the late Tahir Hussain, told him to stop.

“I don’t think I could have ever made it to any significant level but I really enjoyed the game so I had a lot of fun while playing it. And then one fine day, my dad decided that I should stop playing so I stopped,” he said in a video posted by Star Sports India. He added, “Well, I think I am very happy where I am so yeah and good for tennis that I didn’t continue.”

Aamir often emphasises the importance of family values and often makes time to spend quality time with his family. Aamir also had a close relationship with his father and learnt from his journey as a film producer. Aamir Khan is an actor who loves his mother, Zeenat Hussain, deeply and shares a very special bond with her. He is very close to her and often seeks her approval on all the scripts and films he works on.

Recently, Aamir Khan made his Ammi Zeenat Hussain’s 90th birthday very memorable by hosting a grand celebration at his residence in Mumbai. Aamir’s daughter, Ira took to her Instagram handle to share a bundle of happy photos from the wedding and also opened up about the celebration.

She wrote, “I know there are lots of things and people in these photos. And I wanted you to focus on Dadi’s face. Just her. The cake-cutting took a good 15 minutes. Standing can get tiring for her, there’s a fear and weakness… as there is when people get older and their bodies change again. I wonder from time to time what it is like to age. Not your hair-turning-white kind of ageing. The your-body-is-starting-to-deteriorated kind of ageing. Where you start to lose capability in all your faculties.”

She added, “I’ve always wondered if I’d still be able to enjoy life or if by then I’d just be going through the motions. But look at her smile! She was beaming through it all! A genuine beaming. It made me smile P.S. I was not allowed to check if the teapot or cup were cake.” A source close to the actor had earlier shared with News18 that, “Aamir flew in more than 200 family members and friends to be part of the celebration, making it a wonderful family get-together for everyone.”
