In a recent conversation, producer Boney Kapoor opened up about his son Arjun Kapoor’s career and the personal hurdles he has faced. As Boney prepares for the release of his new film Maidaan, he discussed about the difficulties Arjun experienced following his mother, Mona Kapoor’s divorce.
When thec conversation veered toward Arjun’s personal hardships, notably the strain experienced during Boney’s divorce from Arjun’s mother, Mona Kapoor, who died in 2012, and the subsequent impact on Arjun following the underperformance of some of his movies. Boney told Bollywood Hungama, “I was separated with Mona, so he had to face the brunt in his school. Then his mother passed away which was a major loss. Then some films didn’t work and that is again a major setback. He has absorbed it all and still has the strength to remain strong and hold himself which is a great quality. I am sure his time will come because I feel he is a fantastic actor, he has a superb personality and one right film and he is on.”
Boney remarked on Arjun’s phase of introspection and optimism for potential breakthroughs, highlighting his son’s acknowledgment of past errors in judgment regarding film roles, “Arjun is also very sure of himself, waiting for the right opportunity. He knows that he has made some wrong choices but the time will come. The fact is that he has not lost his balance despite some setbacks, (it) speaks a lot of his character. I feel he is the strongest in the family, although where life is concerned, where career is concerned, he has been through some kind of turmoil,” he added.
Both Arjun Kapoor and sister Anshula Kapoor were close to their late mother Mona Shourie Kapoor. In several instances, they have talked about their bond with Mona. On her 12th death anniversary, Arjun took to Instagram to share an old photo with his mother and sister Anshula and wrote a heart-wrenching post.
He wrote, “They say time flies, it doesn’t… It’s been 12 years & still I hate this day I hate this feeling I hate the fact that I’m running out of pictures with U Maa… I hate not being able to say the word Mom or Maa anymore… I hate not seeing Mom flash on my phone… I hate that u were taken away from us… I have no choice but to pretend to be ok… to keep moving forward… to try and make a life… but it will always be incomplete without u… I will always be broken without u…I miss u I wish u had never left… things would be different I would be different maybe I would have smiled a lot more and a lot more easily… smile wherever u are Maa cause without u around I always find it tough to smile or even live…”
Arjun Kapoor’s recent work includes his role in The Lady Killer, which was rushed to release. His upcoming projects are eagerly anticipated, including a negative role in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, featuring an ensemble cast with Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Jackie Shroff. Additionally, Arjun will also star in Boney’s No Entry 2 alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh, further showcasing his versatility as an actor.
