Is Inside Out 2's Envy Character Based On BTS' Jungkook? Fans Think So

BTS’ Jungkook, the youngest member of the globally renowned K-pop boyband, has recently become a trending topic on social media. Fans of BTS and viewers of Inside Out 2 have noted a striking resemblance between Jungkook, known as the maknae (youngest member), and the character Envy from the animated film. This comparison has sparked extensive discussions among BTS fans and movie enthusiasts alike. In 2023, Jungkook notably sported a bob-cut hairstyle with fringes similar to that of the Envy character. Envy, one of Riley Anderson’s emotions in the film, is depicted as a small girl with cyan-coloured skin, blue bobbed hair, and large, expressive eyes.

Inside Out 2, released on June 14, has drawn viewers to the theatres. Among them are also BTS fans, who, upon watching the film, couldn’t help but draw parallels between Jungkook and Envy. This comparison has now become the subject of many clips and videos shared on platform X (formally Twitter). Fans have not only highlighted the similarities in hairstyle of the two but also other resemblances like Jungkook’s ear piercings and Envy’s hair clips.

Fans have also highlighted numerous instances where Jungkook’s appearance closely mirrors that of Envy.

In the film, Envy is seen wearing a purple top with white dots, which fans noticed, is quite similar to a lavender sweatshirt with polka dots that Jungkook had worn during BTS: In The Soop season 2. This keen observation has now led to several edited scenes combining clips from the movie with real-life footage of Jungkook.

As for the idol himself, he recently made headlines with the release of his song Never Let Go. He dedicated the track to his fans during the celebration of 2024 FESTA, an annual event that marks the anniversary of BTS’s debut. The song has already achieved a record-breaking debut and has gone on to become the biggest debut day for a song by a K-pop artist on Spotify’s Global Weekly Chart this year.

Moreover, on June 12, Jungkook was seen at the HYBE Headquarters in Seoul with his fellow BTS members Jin, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V. They had gathered to celebrate Jin’s discharge from military service.
