Ishq Vishk Rebound, directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and part of the Ishq Vishk franchise, had a disappointing start at the box office. According to Sacnilk.com, the film grossed less than Rs 1 crore nett on its opening day in India. Early estimates suggest Ishq Vishk Rebound earned approximately Rs 85 lakh nett on its first day, with a Hindi occupancy rate of 15.37 percent. The storyline follows best friends who have transitioned into a romantic relationship, navigating the complexities that come with it.
On Friday, June 21, Ishq Vishk Rebound had different levels of audience attendance in Hindi screenings throughout the day. Morning shows had 9.62% attendance, afternoon shows had 15.36%, evening shows had 15.87% and night shows had the highest at 20.64%. Overall, the film had an average Hindi occupancy of 15.37% for the day in theaters.
News18 Showsha’s review of the film read, “The disappointing camera work bogs down the film’s viewing experience. But fortunately, the actors manage to hold our hands until the end. Ishq Vishk Rebound is out and out Rohit Saraf’s film. He is the narrator of the film. His character, Raghav, often breaks the fourth wall to talk to the audience and share his thoughts. The approach is heavily inspired from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Emmy-award winning show Fleabag. In India, Kader Khan had done it in the 1980s with Ghar Ho Toh Aisa.”
Hrithik Roshan’s cousin Pashmina has made her acting debut in the film. At the trailer launch, producer Ramesh Taurani had revealed she had auditioned for the role and had not revealed her background until her family name popped up when she was signing the contract. In an interview with News18, Dharmadhikari said that though the role was tough to cast, when he found Pashmina, he knew she was a perfect fit.
“Pashmina was my only choice to play Samiya, nobody else came close. In that list of shortlisted names, there was only one name when it came to Samiya,” the filmmaker said. “I think Pashmina’s character was the toughest to cast, she plays a different character. Once you see the film you will understand. Her character walks a very thin line. But I think she got it absolutely right in her audition. Pashmina herself has a very enduring quality and that worked in her favour, especially when it came to casting Samiya.”
The film marks the second film in the Ishq Vishk franchise and features four fresh faces — Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, Rohit Suresh Saraf and Naila Grrewal.
