Dua Lipa surprised New York fans with an incredible 20-minute performance where she sang songs from her latest album, Radical Optimism.

New York City experienced a thrilling moment over the weekend as Dua Lipa made a surprising appearance at the iconic Times Square ahead of her Met Gala appearance. The pop sensation surprised fans with an incredible 20-minute performance where she sang songs from her latest album, Radical Optimism. Dua Lipa, who was busy promoting her new album in the city, dropped on May 3, had a jam packed schedule.

In addition to her free Times Square concert, she appeared on the stage as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL). Despite announcing the show just two hours ahead of the performance, a large number of New Yorkers came out to experience Dua Lipa’s magic live. The singer treated fans with four songs from Radical Optimism. She kicked off with Training Season, followed by the renditions of Houdini and Happy For You. Dua Lipa concluded her set with Illusion.

In between the performance, Lipa took time out to thank fans, she said, “Wow you guys are amazing, thank you so much what an unbelievable evening. Thank you for showing up, thank you for bringing in the rain and the cold. I even saw you take your top off. It’s getting hot here. Thank you thank you thank you so much, this has been an absolutely unbelievable week my new album Radical optimism is out and I want to say a massive thank you to each and every single one of you for all the love and all the support and for having me here. Let me do what I love in New York, I feel like I’m really having the best New York experience of all time."

While appearing on Saturday Night Live, Dua Lipa spoke about her latest album and said, “My third album just dropped, and it’s called Radical Optimism. A lot of people ask me what that means. To me, it’s like looking on the bright side of any situation."

“We all have problems, even me. Like there’s people online who say, Dua Lipa is always on vacation. Which is totally wrong because I’m British, so we call it a holiday. There’s people who called my dancing lazy and said, ‘Go, girl, give us nothing.’ But I didn’t give you nothing, I gave you the greatest meme of all time," she joked.

Later in the show, the three-time Grammy Award winner wowed SNL audience with performances of two tracks from her latest album, Radical Optimism. The first, Happy for You, was introduced by guest star Jerry Seinfeld, while the second, Illusion, was introduced by Troye Sivan. This marked Dua Lipa’s return to SNL stage since her previous appearance in 2020 as the musical guest alongside Kristen Wiig.
