The KGF films provided Kannada cinema with a much-needed breakthrough to be able to compete with its Telugu and Tamil counterparts in terms of scale and size. The efforts paid off, the films did incredibly well and Yash was rechristened as Rocky Bhai all over India. Ever since Yash became a pan-India star and his appearance in KGF Chapter 2 in 2022, we have not seen him in any new project. So the question that comes to everyone’s mind is will we get to see KGF: Chapter 3 as well?
Well, the second film heavily hinted at yet another sequel in its post-credit scenes where the character of Yash’s apparent death is questioned and a new file documenting Chapter 3 is revealed. Since this big reveal, fans have wanted to know about the sequel. An update regarding this was given by the director of the first two parts, Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films themselves.
As far as the release date of the film is concerned, in September last year, the spokesperson of Hombale Films said that the third part of the Kannada blockbuster KGF starring Yash will be released in 2025 and its production will start in December 2023. At the same time, in an interview with Pinkvilla in December last year, Neil confirmed that the franchise’s third chapter will surely happen.
However, Prashanth Neil had indicated that he might not return to the director’s chair. He told the publication, “KGF 3 will be made. I don’t know whether I will be the director or not but Yash will always be a part of it.” He also said that there was a script ready for the third part even before the announcement of KGF: Chapter 3.
Yash is currently shooting for Toxic directed by Geethu Mohandas and he is also believed to be a part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. It will be interesting to see how KGF: Chapter 3 fits in between these two grand projects.
