The Fantastic Four, Marvel’s very first family, is set to return to theatres. As part of the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film was announced back in 2019, and now it seems the plans are becoming a reality. Actor Joseph Quinn, known for his work in Stranger Things, will portray the hot-headed hero Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. With filming set to commence in July this year, the 30-year-old actor has shared an exciting update.
Speaking to ComicBook, Joseph Quinn revealed that the project has an amazing script, notably after being polished by Eric Pearson.
“It’s been a wonderful experience so far. We’ve got a wonderful gang on it, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, to name but a few. I’m very excited. I’m nervous, obviously. I’m really looking forward to getting into it. The script is amazing,” he said. The actor praised director Matt Shakman, known for WandaVision, and added, “The intention behind it is… We’re going for it.”
Earlier, after his casting was announced, Quinn spoke to Entertainment Weekly and shared his excitement about working with the lead actors. “Working with Vanessa, Pedro, Ebon — they’re really consummate pros and brilliant in everything they’re in. So I’m really looking forward to establishing this familial dynamic with them and with Matt Shakman’s guidance,” he said.
Currently on a roll with his latest projects, Quinn is the recent choice to play the Human Torch on the big screen. Earlier, Chris Evans played the character in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Similarly, Michael B. Jordan also took over the role in 2015’s Fant4stic.
More On MCU’s The Fantastic Four
It is pertinent to note that MCU’s The Fantastic Four was under the reins of Spider-Man filmmaker Jon Watts, later replaced by Shakman. While details about the plot have been kept under wraps, the casting is mostly confirmed, with Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Kirby as Sue Storm or the Invisible Woman, and Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm or the Thing. Joining others are Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as his herald, the Shalla-Bal Silver Surfer. Actors Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich have also been brought on board for the film, states the report.
