Malaika Arora's father Anil Mehta passed away on Wednesday. The funeral took place on Thursday in Mumbai.

Salman Khan was visibly missing from Malaika Arora’s father’s funeral. Malaika’s father, Anil Mehta, died on Wednesday. Several members of the Khan family rushed to be by Malaika’s side. However, Salman did not make it to the house or the funeral to give his last respects. Although the family is yet to reveal the reason behind his absence, it seems like Salman is not in the city.

If Rashmika Mandanna’s latest Instagram Stories is to go by, Salman is currently shooting for his upcoming film, Sikander. The actress is paired opposite Salman in the film. On Wednesday, Rashmika revealed she’s starting the shoot schedule for Sikander, seemingly revealing that she and Salman have been busy with the work on the film. In the photo, she appeared to be in her vanity van. She revealed she was greeted by flowers and a special note. She shared the photo with the caption, “Day 1” and the hashtag ‘Sikander’.

Meanwhile, Salman’s parents and brothers visited Malaika after Anil Mehta’s death. Photos and videos revealed Arbaaz was the first one to rush to the family after his death. Soon, Salim Khan, Salma Khan and Sohail Khan joined them. Arbaaz’s wife, Sshura Khan also joined the family at the funeral. Also present with Malaika and her sister Amrita Arora at the funeral were Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis.

Initial investigation suggests that he died by suicide but police is investigating the death to rule out other possibilities as well. Meanwhile, Malaika issued a statement on social media, paying a tribute to Anil Mehta.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect,” read the statement.
