On actor Chiyaan Vikram’s 58th birthday, the makers of Thangalaan, the star’s much-awaited film with Pa Ranjith, have released a special behind-the-scenes video as a tribute. The Puducherry Chiyaan Vikram Chief Fan Club runs various welfare programmes for the poor people. On behalf of the Supreme Council, they conduct events like the distribution of food and water.

On Vikram’s birthday, a small hut was constructed near Muruga Theatre in Puducherry and buttermilk, purified drinking water and food were distributed on behalf of Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv Vikram.

Avinash, the president of Chiyaan Vikram Chief Fan Club, Gugan, the vice president and the administrators of the Chief Fan Club including Lokesh Vignesh and Rahul participated in large numbers and distributed free food and buttermilk to the people.

On the other hand, the Thangalaan showcases the gruelling process that Vikram had to go through to become the titular ‘son of gold’. From the long hours in the make-up chair to the intense action sequences in scorching heat, we see Vikram giving it his all during the shoot and the video proves why the star is considered the epitome of toughness, determination and dedication.

Speaking about the tribute video, director Ranjith said in a statement, “Thangalaan is a vision to present a historical adventure story based on true events, buoyed by a phenomenal performance by Vikram Sir and the entire team. On the occasion of Vikram Sir’s birth anniversary, this tribute video aims to showcase the efforts of Vikram Sir that helped the film get the attention it deserves and created huge expectations.”

In the works since 2022, Thangalaan is said to be based on a true story set in the gold fields of Kolar during British rule in India. A teaser released earlier showed glimpses of the story of a tribal leader who fights against those who want to take away his land to mine gold. Besides Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan in the female lead roles, Thangalaan also stars Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone and Harikrishnan Anbudurai in lead roles. Music is by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Praba has co-written the screenplay.
