Paul Anderson, better known for playing the role of Arthur Shelby in the widely acclaimed BBC web series Peaky Blinders, has gotten embroiled in legal trouble. The actor has pleaded guilty after he was found in possession of crack cocaine. According to reports, he was fined a hefty amount after he was found with some illegal substances on Boxing Day in a pub at Hampstead. Sources claim that Arthur was supposed to play his part in the upcoming film adaptation of Peaky Blinders, headlined by Golden Globes award winner Cillian Murphy. However, with him pleading guilty, his part in the upcoming film hangs in darkness.

As per a report by Daily Mail, Paul Anderson appeared in court on Thursday, January 25 where he admitted to owning “class A crack cocaine, class B amphetamines and two class C prescription substances.” A fine of £1,345 (approx Rs 1.4 lakh) was imposed upon him. After Anderson used the disabled restroom at the Hampstead bar, the pub management witnessed what he thought to be crack cocaine odours emanating from there. He called the police and Anderson was brought to a police station, where it was discovered that “the actor had crack cocaine, pregabalin, diazepam, and other amphetamines,” the prosecution informed the Magistrates’ Court.

Paul Anderson refused to make any comment on his involvement with the drug case. He gave a “no comment” response to every question throughout the interview during his appearance in court. However, the court was informed that the actor later “tested positive for cocaine and opiates, not crack cocaine.” During the hearing earlier this week, he pleaded guilty to the four drug-related offences. Paul’s lawyer said, “He has found himself in an unfortunate position and should have had the strength to say no. He was recognised that Boxing Day and tried to play up for these people – and because of the lifestyle he leads, people often give him inducements.” The lawyer also heaped praises on Anderson for playing the role of Arthur in Peaky Blinders.

Peaky Blinders’ last episode aired in April 2022. It is said to make a theatrical return by creator Steven Knight. Paul Anderson essays Cillian Murphy’s character, Thomas Shelby’s on-screen brother.
