Tamil stalwart Rajinikanth recently wrapped up the shooting of the film Vettaiyan, written and directed by TJ Gnanavel. He has now taken a break from his acting schedule and flew to Abu Dhabi. He was spotted at the Chennai International Airport, Tamil Nadu from where he boarded the flight to Abu Dhabi. As per reports, Rajinikanth will be on holiday for a week in the country. Vettaiyan boasts of an ensemble cast, composed of actors like Fahadh Faasil, Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Daggubati. This pan-India film, produced by Lyca Productions, is expected to be released at the cinema halls in October 2024. Besides Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is also eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. According to reports, the 73-year-old actor has charged a jaw-droppingly sum for the film. If reports are to be believed, Rajinikanth has charged Rs 260 to 280 crore for the film. If these claims are verified, this would make the Tamil superstar the highest-paid actor in Asia. The makers, nor Rajinikanth, have also not reacted to the claims.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has recently unveiled Coolie’s title teaser. The video commences with several gold smugglers checking on their inventory of bars, watches, jewellery and other items. Soon, Rajinikanth breaks into their lair and beats them using a chain made of gold watches. The video ends with lair whistling Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam from the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The trailer has garnered over 13 million views and counting.
Coolie is set to go on floors soon. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the music for the film. It also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Ranveer Singh and Parvathy Thiruvothu in important roles. Vijay Sethupathi is also reportedly in talks with the director Lokesh to play a pivotal role in this film. There are reports that Shah Rukh Khan may play a cameo role in this film.
