Ram Gopal Varma’s sexist tweet on International Women’s Day has irked many and been termed as tasteless but Rakhi Sawant has defended the filmmaker and said that he should not have apologized.
A day after the Tweet drew him flak, RGV issued an apology for being insensitive and hurting the sentiments of women but also categorically mentioned that he was not apologetic to those who were ‘attacking’ him.
Was just expressing my feelings but I apologise to all who were offended due to my unintended insensitive tweets in context of women's day? Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 9, 2017
My apology is only to those who genuinely got offended and not to those who ranted for publicity nd threatened to take law into their hands? Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 9, 2017
Interestingly, drama queen Rakhi Sawant had a different take on the issue and backed the director. “Whatever he has said is true and I support him. A man lives with his wife for so many years, the wife serves him throughout her life and the moment a young, hot girl enters the man’s life, he forgets his wife. RGV should not be apologizing for his tweets," said Rakhi.
