Malayalam filmmaker Major Ravi’s directorial Operation Raahat went on floors on July 8, Monday with a pooja ceremony. This film will be released at the cinema halls in 5 languages (Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada) on the big screens. The director performed the switch-on ceremony for the film, Operation Raahat, while producer Anoop Mohan gave the clap. Major Ravi will be returning to the direction after seven years with this film. Arjun Ravi is associated with it as the cinematographer. Ashlin Mary Joy’s banner, Presidential Movies International, has produced Operation Raahat, headlined by actor R Sarathkumar. This film is based on a true incident.

What was Operation Raahat?
Operation Raahat was an operation of the Indian armed forces to evacuate Indian citizens and foreign nationals from Yemen during the 2015 military intervention by Saudi Arabia and its allies in that country during the Yemeni Crisis.

Director Major Ravi unveiled the poster of this film on June 14 which shows the visuals of people walking towards the aeroplane amidst the backdrop of desert. About Major Ravi
Besides being a filmmaker, Ravi has also dabbled in acting and writing. He is also a war veteran and received the President’s Gallantry Award in 1991 and 1992. He has given an account of the soldier’s life in an interview with the film ARAN, made in Tamil and Malayalam as Keerthi Chakra. He talked more about it in an interview with the IANS," Viewing ‘Aran’ will be a unique experience. It is real. It is a true account of a soldier’s experience, and not a synthetic war story moulded to suit the celluloid".
Ravi had said that the shooting of the film in Kashmir and Afghanistan was a risky operation.
