Vivek Oberoi Reveals Childhood Experience Of Selling Perfumes Door-to-Door: 'I Made Mistakes...'
Vivek Oberoi recently revealed a unique story from his childhood, sharing how his father assigned him the responsibility of selling perfumes at the age of 10. He fondly remembered going door-to-door with the products, learning valuable lessons along the way.

Vivek Oberoi, known for openly discussing the ups and downs of both his personal life and acting career, recently reflected on his early entrepreneurial days, recalling how he once went door-to-door selling perfumes as a schoolboy. “I was about 10 years old when my father approached me, saying we’d go on a holiday in a month, but before that, he would teach me something over the first four weeks,” he shared, adding, “I made mistakes but learned a lot.”

In an interview with Entertainment Live, Vivek credited his father, veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, for instilling in him a business mindset at an early age. At just 10 years old, Vivek was tasked with tracking perfume inventory his father had purchased and selling them for a profit. His father allowed him to keep any extra earnings from selling above the set price, teaching him vital lessons about business, accounting, and sales. “I went door to door on my bicycle, carrying my school bag filled with the inventory and merchandise,” Vivek recalled, reminiscing about the hands-on experience that, despite mistakes, provided invaluable learning opportunities. He continued this entrepreneurial activity annually, growing his understanding of the business world.

By the age of 15, Vivek was already brainstorming his own business ideas and delved into the stock market. At 19, he launched his first tech startup, which he sold successfully by the time he turned 22. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, he said, “That’s when I realised it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC and help both investors and myself earn money.”

Vivek explained that this success opened his eyes to the potential of entrepreneurship, teaching him how to create, grow, and sell a business for profit. This knowledge later proved crucial in helping him overcome challenges in his acting career, providing him with the confidence to explore new opportunities outside of film. This phase marked a major turning point in his life, one that shaped his approach to everything from business to acting.

Vivek also stressed the importance of hard work, saying, “There should be no mistake in hard work from my side. We have to give 100 percent. When we do that, the result would mostly be good: be it in films, business, philanthropy or love. Sometimes you get tired because of the workload. But when the team and people are so good, you join forces, contribute and they understand the vision.”

After making his acting debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company, Vivek Oberoi made a name for himself with a variety of films like Saathiya, Yuva, Shootout at Lokhandwala, and Krrish 3. Most recently, he starred in Rohit Shetty’s web series Indian Police Force, alongside Shilpa Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra.

On the personal front, Vivek tied the knot with Priyanka Alva in 2010. Priyanka is the daughter of the late Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva and renowned dancer Nandini Alva. The couple has two children, daughter Ameya Nirvana and son Vivaan Veer.
