The film won after the end of the awards ceremony was plunged into chaos after 'La La Land' was mistakenly announced as the best picture winner.

In what will go down as probably one of the most epic moments in the history of Oscars, Moonlight won the winner of the Best Picture, after a moment of utter chaos.

Warren says he paused so long before the name was read as the envelope read Emma Stone, La La Land but Faye chided him for taking so long and announced the wrong winner.

Both the films are of different genres – but both boast of cinematic brilliance. Moonlight tells the story of a boy’s journey to adulthood and stars Naomi Harris as his durg-addicted mother and Mahershala Ali as a drug-dealer turned mentor. La La Land is a dreamy tale which follows the journey of two people, who meet, fall in love, argue and endure the every-day professional hiccups.
