Will There Be A Sequel To Kunal Kemmu’s Madgaon Express? What We Know

Kunal Kemmu made his directorial debut earlier this year with the comedy film Madgaon Express, starring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary and Nora Fatehi. The film has received widespread acclaim from critics and fans are waiting for the news of a sequel. In a recent interview, producer Ritesh Sidhwani, who co-produced the film alongside Farhan Akhtar, discussed the possibility of a second installment of the comedy film.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the interviewer asked about the possibility of a sequel to Madgaon Express, as hinted at the film’s conclusion. Ritesh Sidhwani responded by confirming that Madgaon Express 2 was definitely being considered. However, he added, “The right person to answer that is Kunal Kemmu. But if you ask him, he will tell you yes. Will it be his next film? I don’t think so because that’s on him to decide as a filmmaker what he wants to do next.”

Moreover, Ritesh Sidhwani revealed that the script for Madgaon Express, written by actor-director Kunal Kemmu, remained unchanged throughout the production process. He credited Kunal’s conviction and belief in the project as key factors that contributed to the film’s success.

Earlier, Kunal Kemmu had also addressed questions about the possibility of a sequel to his directorial debut. In an interview with India Today, Kunal had said, “I’d love to (come with sequel). I have always maintained that when people came to watch ‘Madgaon Express’, they came with no expectations. But now, when they come next, there will be expectations. It will be my responsibility to meet these.”

Furthermore, he mentioned there are a few ideas he has been deliberating on for the sequel but will not pitch it until he is convinced which one to choose.

The film was released in theatres in March this year and started streaming on Prime Video last month. Madgaon Express revolves around three childhood friends, Dodo, Pinku, and Ayush, who could never fulfil their teenage dream of travelling to Goa together. Years later, they reunite to finally embark on their dream journey, where they are unwittingly drawn into the world of drug trafficking.
